Capturing astroscapes can be tricky. The key is to allow the shutter to remain open long enough that the stars glow, but not so long that they become blurred by the natural movement of the night sky. The full beauty of the stars can not be revealed unless it is a moonless night. The starburst effects on the brightest stars are caused by condensation on the lens due to the rapid drop in temperature. I deliberately placed myself so that the dead tree seemed to be reaching up into the cosmos; though it did need a little light painting to make that weathered wood stand out.
